Common Questions
I have no dance experience and no rhythm. Do I have hope?
Yes! In all our years of teaching experience, 95% of our students have started from scratch, and many without a "sense of rhythm". Lack of dance experience just means we have fewer bad habits to correct.
Do I need a partner for group or private lessons?
Not for either. On a private lesson, your teacher will be your partner. You'll actually learn much faster this way because we spend the entire time teaching just one person, not two.
In our group classes, we rotate partners so you will get a chance to meet and dance with everyone.
My schedule is crazy and I am really strapped for time. Can I still learn to dance if I can't make it the same time each week?
YES! Many of our students are very busy with work and some of them have multiple kids on top of that. Still, they've decided to make time for a fun "me-time" activity.
If this sounds like you, we recommend private lessons. You can schedule them whenever you like and you'll still make good progress in your dancing.
How long will I have to take lessons?
It depends on how many kinds of music you want to be able to dance to and how good you want to get. The answer for everyone is different, but as a point of reference, if your goal is to be comfortable, you could do that in as little as 4 weeks.
How much?
Our tuition starts at $10 per class, but we offer discounts if you register for more than a single course. Our private lessons begin at $45 for the New Dancer Program.
Which is better, group classes or private lessons?
Both kinds of classes have their strengths. Group classes are a fun, easy & very economical way to get started and see if you want to delve deeper into the world of dance.
On a private lesson, we focus on your specific needs and progress as fast as you can. You can even videotape your lesson to practice at home. This is an especially good option for busy people because you can schedule your lessons whenever you like.
Do I need special shoes or special clothes?
No. Our only dress code is no shorts, no sneakers and no sandals. Otherwise, everything else is ok.
What is the age range of your students?
We've worked with children from age 5 to age 90. Anyone can dance.
